When Charlie the chimp successfully orbits the moon, a reluctant volunteer, Captain Richard Talbot (Tom Tryon), is next in line. But the fiercely organized plans of mission director General Vanneman (Brian Keith) go hysterically awry when Rich is approached by a suspected spy, the beautiful, mysterious Lyrae (Dany Saval). It seems that Lyrae has a vital -- and quite unearthly -- bit of information that will save the mission from failure, but the army and the FBI quickly launch their own project -- an elaborate plan to keep Rich and Lyrae apart. The result if an out-of-this-world comedy/fantasy!
